- the monchichi learned to ride a two-wheeler last week while camping. now all he wants to do is ride his bike. so off he and i went. he kept exclaiming, ‘this is so much fun!’ we rode around the neighborhood which has some pretty tough inclines for a 6-year old and an out-of-shape 33-year old. every time i asked if he wanted to stop and walk his bike up he said, ‘nah, i’d rather get exercise’. i LOVE that kid. and on our second jaunt, which he dubbed ‘the city tour’, we rode to the park. at some point during our ride he dubbed us ‘the exercise group’ and talked about filming a commercial. he cracks me up.

- the monchichi has discovered baby-back ribs and apparently the gold standard is Hooters, which he says is ‘mouth-watering’. it’s dangerous when kids can read man.
- the monchichi has also discovered teriyaki sauce. apparently, last week at a japanese steak house he was just slurping that stuff up with his chopsticks like it was crack. this weekend, he devoured like 7 teriyaki wings.

- on sunday, patrick and i headed out to an estate sale i’ve been wanting to visit for some time, since i got news that they were having some sort of clearance sale. it ended up being a bust – we didn’t find anything we wanted, i accidentally picked up an otter pelt/stole that grossed me out, and the prices were not as good i as would have liked.
- on our way to the estate sale, patrick saw signs for a gun show, so i obliged. i had no idea really what to expect but it wasn’t as scary as i thought it could have been. i did have to look away from a hunting video that was being played on a continuous loop. and i was appalled by all the confederate and nazi flags being sold. but i did sample some pretty good beef jerky. and the emergency preparedness booths were pretty interesting. but thankfully, we were able to leave the gun show without buying anything but a coca-cola tin sign.
- we had lunch at a cajun place along the sacramento river and had a great time people/boat watching. until, patrick realized he lost his wallet. that pretty much soured the rest of our afternoon. thankfully, we don’t carry a lot of cash (though i did have a bit of it on me for the estate sale) and we only carry 2 credit cards. so the damage was nil, but the inconvenience is very high.
- i’ve been on a big declutter kick lately, so i’ve unsubscribed myself from about 2 dozen email lists. and it feels awesome. virtual/digitial/internet clutter has been taking up serious brain power from me lately so it feels good to clear all the shit out.
